This weekend we joined a team of litter picking heroes from St Mark’s Church in Pennington. The team were allocated roads, donned their high-vis vests, grabbed a handful of refuse bags and litter grabbers and set out in the search for waste dumped in verges and hedgerows.

Anne Elliot, Associate Priest organised the morning in collaboration with the New Forest District Council in the hope that it would bring the community and the church together to make the village safer and cleaner for everyone.

After two hours of eager cleaning, over 30 bags of rubbish and recycling collected, the team at St Mark’s were given certificates and stickers for their efforts.

The morning brought together people from the local community of all ages.

“God gave us dominion over the world we live upon; however, not to use as we will, but to work responsibly as Stewards of what is, ultimately, God’s creation.”
