On Wednesday 16th May, two resident of a care home, Alton were confirmed by the Bishop of Basingstoke, David Williams. Jean Burt and Terry Brown, were baptised in 1930 and 1929 respectively (Terry at All Saints Alton) and have waited many years for to take communion.

Both have finally taken the plunge, supported by family, friends and other residents. The Bishop preached on Matthew 28: ‘I am with you always’ and the lesson was read by Terry. Jean chose the hymn ‘All People That on Earth do Dwell’.

It has been a great privilege to prepare them for confirmation and in fact, I think I learned a great deal from them.

The Bishop commented on the pleasant and happy atmosphere and was delighted to see the ‘Prayer walk’ picture made by some of the residents as part of the Novena (they wrote prayers on foot shaped pieces of paper).
