Harvest and Creationtide

‘Creationtide’ or the ‘Season of Creation’ is the period in the annual church calendar (from 1st September to 4th October) dedicated to God as Creator and Sustainer of all life. September is normally seen as the month of harvest which is why we also have harvest festivals.

Every year we look to better God's kingdom by looking after the environment. This year we're focusing on bees!

In the book of Genesis we are told that God created the world and “saw that it was good”. Rich, diverse and fragile, the creation reflected something of God’s glory.

Sermon Notes: Care for Creation - Harvest 2019

Operation Noah have prepared notes to help people who are preaching on the Lectionary for Creation Time (Sundays in September). They have tried to relate some of the lectionary readings and Collects for each Sunday to themes from ‘Climate change and the purposes of God: a call to the Church’.

Obviously some texts are more appropriate to address issues of climate change than others, but over these weeks they have underlined our themes of joy, responsibility, repentance, neighbour love, justice and hope. It is our hope and prayer that these will be a guide and help to people preaching God’s Word during Creation Time.
