The School of Mission (SoM) is not just a new name, it is a new start for a key aspect of Diocesan life: the calling, envisioning, training and support of the discipleship, ministry and mission of Winchester Diocese so that we become, in all our parts and as a whole, a Mission-Shaped Diocese. In supporting the mission development of the Diocese, the School of Mission facilitates the relationship between theological questions and resources and the mission practice of Christian communities and ministers. The department supports the selection and training for ministry and practical mission enabling discipleship of all kinds both lay and ordained.
The School of Mission links to the Cathedral via the Canon Principal who will coordinate the work of the School of Mission with the teaching and educational ministry of the Cathedral. The overall work of the School will be directed by the Mission Development Goals undertaken and overseen by the Archdeacon for Mission development.
