Diocesan departments
This section offers information about the work of the various departments of the diocese.
Administration
This department services our synodical structure and implements ecclesiastical legislative requirements and advice to clergy and PCC officers. It is also responsible for the management of Church House staff and administrative support to the Archdeacons.
Communications
Provides a communications network both internally with clergy and parish officers and externally with the media. It has developed the new diocesan website and produces the diocesan publication ‘The Vine’ as well as managing the process of resource packs.
Education
The Church of England's main engagement in education and mission with children and young people in the Diocese is represented by 94 Church of England schools in the state-maintained sector, two church sixth form and higher education colleges and various independent schools. More than 30,000 adults and children glimpse something daily of the Christian life through daily worship and community living.
Discipleship
The work of the Discipleship department is about telling the story of the Gospel and enabling others to do so as effectively and widely as possible.
Finance
The Department provides financial management services to the diocese and parishes and implements ecclesiastical legislative requirements and advice to clergy and PCC officers.
Ministry & Pastoral Planning
It focuses on those whose responsibility it is to lead the church in this Diocese, providing training and resources to our clergy and lay people.
Property
The team oversee the management of buildings (not churches) owned by the Diocese across our region. They can be contacted in relation to a range of issues, and details for contacting them are in this section of the site.
Safeguarding and Inclusion
The Department reaches out to those who need the care of a Christian church and provides resources to assist those with disabilities, vulnerable adults and child protection. This page includes information on the Criminal Records Bureau and child protection.
