Children and Young People
Our heart is to see children and young people become full disciples of Jesus Christ.
What do we do?
In order that children and young people become disciples it is vital that they have adults drawing alongside them, sharing with them the good news of the Gospel of Christ and aiding them as they grow in their faith. This role is so vital that we want to do all we can to enable people to do it to the best of their ability.
We aim to help people engaged in children's and youth ministry by advising, supporting and training and wherever possible helping to find appropriate resources.
If you are:

Who are we?
Pete Maidment – Children and Young People's Officer
My particular role within the team is three fold. I am involved in planning and running events both centrally and locally, such as youthQuake and Xtreme, our major youth and children’s events each year, and day events for leaders and volunteers involved in youth and children’s ministry. Secondly I have a responsibility for finding resources for use with youth and children’s ministry, this means the teaching material that churches use week in week out, material for holiday clubs and other one off events as well as good training material and even people who can do things for specific events and services. Finally I am involved in the training work.
I have been involved in full time youth ministry since 1997 and have worked for Youth for Christ as well as in a local church setting. In 2004 graduated from King’s College London with an MA in youth ministry and theological education.
Andy Saunders Field Officer for Children and Youth
Andy’s work is to support parishes across the Diocese in their ministry to children and young people. This is done primarily through consultancy and training, as well as working alongside parishes in running children’s events. In addition to keeping clergy and lay people aware of opportunities and new resources that will assist them in their week by week work with children, Andy’s work also involves planning and delivering children’s events at a Diocesan level. He is keen to develop training opportunities for year out folk, and to work alongside other agencies so that children and young people can be better supported and resourced as they seek to follow Christ.
Pete and Andy are part of the Discipleship Department.
