Discipleship
A disciple is a follower, a learner and an apprentice. As Christians we follow Jesus, we learn a new way of living and we are Christ's apprentices to carry on his ministry in the world using the gifts entrusted to us.
Each one of us as disciples of Jesus learns everyday more about what it means to follow faithfully, to live in his ways and to serve other people. Much of our learning is informal and based upon our everyday experiences and reflection. But our individual learning is also enhanced by more formal ways of discovering more about our faith and how to live as Christians.
In this section of the website, you can find information on developing faith for children, young people and adults, and also about Christian Stewardship.
There are a large number of resources available to help Christians grow in discipleship. Many of these resources are designed to be used by groups of people so that learning is shared and encouraged together. Some resources are for those who are enquiring or who are new to the faith. Others are designed to help those who have been Christians for some time to grow and develop.
A guide to these resources has been produced by the Departments of Discipleship and Ministry and Pastoral Planning. Churches and study groups can download a copy here (pdf). Please note that this pdf file is intended for printing not screen viewing.
Resources from the Diocesan Conference in October 2008 which continued to explore our calling under God can be found here The Conference also looked at 'Making and Growing Disciples'.
During 2009 the Youth Evangelism Fund will be distributing grants within the Diocese of Winchester. Projects must be proposed by young people themselves and the budget for individual grant proposals should not exceed £2000. The application form and pack can be downloaded here (pdf).
