Do you gather together stories of church life and help spread the Good News?

With magazines, podcasts, posters, leaflets, websites and much more, we are the story-tellers of the church.

If you are involved in communications, either from a creative, technical or administrative aspect, you are warmly invited to come and rededicate yourselves to this vital work. There will be a celebration of communications and rededication service on Saturday 3 October at St Peter's Church, Shakespeare Road, Boyatt Wood, in the Eastleigh Deanery. The service will be led by the Bishop of Winchester, the Rt Revd Michael Scott-Joynt. Join with others from across the Diocese of Winchester for an afternoon of worship and encouragement, with exhibitions to enjoy and a chance to share fellowship and network. The event will start at 1pm.

We need to know numbers for planning purposes - please advise the Communications Department on 01962 737325 or email communications@winchester.anglican.org

If you would like communications volunteers or other members of your parish to receive an invitation to the service and exhibition, please contact the Communications Department on the details above.

Parish correspondents

If your parish or benefice does not already have a parish correspondent that could represent your worshipping community at this event, please contact the Communications Department and we can offer advice and tips from other parishes on creating a parish correspondent role. In some parishes, a parish correspondent is shared across a benefice or a larger group, others have opted to have more than one correspondent, some are in licensed ministry, while others have parish magazine or web volunteer backgrounds, or are involved in other aspects of the church's life.

Exhibitions

Contribute material towards this major new exhibition which is intended to tell the story of the Church of England at work and at worship in the Diocese of Winchester. The Communications Department is looking for striking video, images, audio and writing that convey what God is doing with and among us.

We hope to gather today examples from worshipping communities across the Diocese, and that it will build up a spectacular and compelling picture of God in Hampshire, Bournemouth and East Dorset.

We are looking to convey what it means to be a disciple of Jesus today in your community.

We also want to hear your stories of being a Christian in the places where you live, work, learn and take leisure.

Photographs, cartoons, digital images, poems, short stories, audio files or video pieces are all very welcome. Tell us about what it means to share the story of Jesus' birth, death and resurrection with your friends; your church's work to help those in need and how your church is sharing life together.

Nothing is too small to celebrate, too traditional nor too cutting edge.

The technical bits

We want to make submitting images to the exhibition as easy as possible and we hope that all parts of the church community will feel able to contribute. There are technical details of how to contribute below, but if you are unsure about any aspect please just drop us a line by email or post and we will try to help you.

All material submitted needs to have been created or published between June 2007 and June 2009.

Together with your entry, you will be able to submit background about the inspiration behind the piece or details of a project it relates to.

We look forward to receiving your submissions for this exhibition of witness. All entries must be received by 30 June 2009.

We regret we are unable to return prints.

If the image contains identifiable images of children or young people under the age of 16 please accompany the submission with a declaration that permission has been obtained. In due course we may need to see an original permission form or email stating this.

After considering your submission we may need to request the loan of negatives or larger digital files either on CD or by electronic transfer.
