Bishop Tim visits Naomi House
27 July 2012

THE BISHOP OF WINCHESTER left inspired after a visit to Naomi House, Monday, a charity which looks after children and young adults with life-limiting conditions.
Bishop Tim was shown around Naomi House, first opened in 1987, but also around the more modern unit, jacksplace, which has enabled the charity to expand its services to young adults.
Describing his visit, Bishop Tim said: “I was inspired by the amazing work of Naomi House - by the commitment and determination of those who established it, and by the compassion of those who care for children with life-limiting conditions.
“The vision to extend the work to include teenagers and young adults, which jacksplace now makes possible, is groundbreaking and deserves wide support."
Behind the scenes
Since 1987, Naomi House has supported over 600 families from Berkshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, West Sussex, Surrey and Wiltshire.
It costs around £5million a year to run Naomi House and jacksplace, only 10% of which is funded by the Department of Health, making the charity reliable on the generous support of the communities it serves.
The Bishop of Basingstoke previously visited Naomi House in 2010.
