The Right Reverend Tim Dakin, Bishop of Winchester, has announced that the Reverend Julia Mourant, the Bishop’s Vocations Adviser and Diocesan Director of Ordinands, will be leaving her post at the end of September.
In this role Julia has been leading candidates through the process of discernment and training for lay and ordained ministry, a crucial role within the Diocese.
Commenting, Bishop Tim said:
“I thank Julia for her dedicated work in the Diocese over the last decade, nurturing those who have felt called to serve God in lay and ordained ministry. People across the Diocese have valued the support and guidance that Julia has given over the years and there is real affection for her. We thank her for the significant contribution she has made to the life of the Diocese and wish her well in the future.”
Archdeacon for Mission Development, The Venerable Dr Paul Moore said:
“We are very sad to be losing Julia. She has been a key figure in the development of our new School of Mission, helping to lay the foundations for us to continue to make a real difference in the world. Julia has done so much to welcome and guide those seeking to play a greater role in the Church, encouraging people from lots of different backgrounds to serve their communities. She will certainly be missed.”
Julia has served in a number of roles in the Diocese over the last 10 years including as Vocations, Recruitment and Selection Officer; Joint Director of Ordinands and Lay Training Officer. She has also served as the Bishop’s Adviser for Women in Ministry.
The Diocese will be making further announcements on the appointment of a new Bishop’s Vocations Adviser.
