The Bishop of Winchester, The Rt Revd Tim Dakin, has today announced that Revd Sue Wallace is to be the new Canon Precentor and Sacrist of Winchester Cathedral.
She will join the Winchester Cathedral Chapter from Leeds Minster and brings with her a wealth of experience in music and the creative arts, and in working with young people.
Sue has over 20 years of ministerial experience, most recently at the busy church of Leeds Minister and before that in York.
At Winchester Cathedral, she will take responsibility for the planning and direction of daily Cathedral worship, liturgy, music and for the many special services that are arranged throughout the year.
As a highly talented musician, composer and artist, Sue has pioneered innovative work in building relationships with the wider community, welcoming new people into the Church and developing engaging programmes of worship.
This has included her use of café-style Eucharists, discussion and craft sessions and multimedia Evensongs.
She succeeds the Reverend Canon Michael St John-Channell who retired this year, having served as Precentor and Sacrist at Winchester Cathedral since 2006.
