Dibden Youth, a youth group based near Southampton, is holding a photography exhibition throughout January to showcase some of the youngsters’ artwork in the Coffee House at the St. Andrew’s Centre.
Over the last four months a group of young people have met each Tuesday after school to take part in a photography workshop led by local photographers Shannon Dean and Richard de Jong. This exhibition launched on 4 January 2016 at a special events attended by local parish, district and county councillors, local funders, and families and friends.
Chris Kidd, Director of Children’s & Youth Work at Dibden Churches said: “It has been great to see the young people learning and developing new skills, and expressing themselves through photography. They have been really excited to display and sell their photos. The joy and self-confidence that the launch brought to some of those young people is an example of the difference that youth work in our local community can make.”
The exhibition will run throughout January at The Coffee House, St. Andrew’s Centre, every Tuesday to Saturday from 9am-12noon. Whilst you’re there you can enjoy some great coffee and cake too! Or check out the Diocesan Facebook page to see a gallery of the artwork on display.
