Bishops license ten new Licensed Lay Ministers

LLM photoOn Saturday 10 October 2015 the Right Reverend Tim Dakin, Bishop of Winchester, the Right Reverend David Williams, Bishop of Basingstoke and the Right Reverend Jonathan Frost, Bishop of Southampton, were delighted to licence ten new Licensed Lay Ministers (LLM) to the Diocese, at a joyful service in Winchester Cathedral. Family and friends of those being licensed joined the congregation, along with some of the Diocese’s existing LLM.  The cathedral also welcomed representatives from Christchurch Priory, who had made the journey to offer their sublime and uplifting music to accompany the service.

Bishop Tim said:

“I am delighted to have welcomed our new LLM who are committed, motivated and engaged in their calling to help the church in mission across the Diocese of Winchester.  I thank them for answering the call of God to serve their local communities and pray for them as they take up their new ministry.”

Newly licensed to their parishes, having completed their training in summer of this year, were:

Clive Ashton, Lord’s Hill & Lord’s Wood Parish, Southampton Deanery
Jane Castle, Bitterne Parish, Southampton Deanery
Lynne Payne, Lord’s Hill & Lord’s Wood Parish, Southampton Deanery
Jane Pelling, Thornhill Parish, Southampton Deanery
Jonathan Rooke, Four Marks Parish, Alton Deanery
Katerina Surmova, Bursledon Parish, Southampton Deanery

Bishop Tim also welcomed four LLM who have transferred into Winchester from other Dioceses:

Sue Blomley, Hythe Parish, Lyndhurst Deanery
Angie Lythgoe, Lord’s Hill & Lord’s Wood Parish, Southampton Deanery
Alan Thain, Four Marks Parish, Alton Deanery
Geoff Wortley, Portway & Danebury Parish, Winchester Deanery

Following the service, a number of LLM joined Bishops Tim, David and Jonathan at a Forum in the Paul Woodhouse suite, where they enjoyed a light lunch and engaged with the Bishops in hearing about future plans for ministry across the Diocese.
