Priory CE school, Christchurch, was delighted to welcome the Bishop of Southampton, the Rt Reverend Bishop Jonathon Frost, for the day this week.
The Bishop had heard about the good inspection results and was keen to see the school in action. Head boy, Daniel Dwyer and Head girl, Megan McCall met the Bishop and escorted him around the school with the headteacher. He led worship for the whole school and spent time in every classroom. He led a mental maths session in Year 1, testing the children on their skills in addition and subtraction. He asked and answered questions in Year 2, joined a WW2 lesson in Year 3 and was shown by a pupil how to use a gas mask.
The children who work regularly on our soup kitchen served him Butternut squash soup for starter at lunchtime. He then joined our Child of Hope Uganda team for lunch. He ended the day by meeting and talking with parents and governors of the school.
Bishop Jonathon will be involved with the school again in the summer term as he supports the children being confirmed.
