A new course to support children’s workers, run in partnership with the Diocese of Winchester and providing optional accreditation.

Inspired by the success of our conference held in early 2016, Ministering to Children is a new five-session course to support children’s workers. Conceived and run in partnership with the Diocese of Winchester, this course will equip you with a deeper understanding and new ideas that help to enrich your essential field of ministry.

Teaching team

Ministering to Children will be taught by Andy Saunders, a Children & Family Adviser for the Diocese of Winchester, alongside Moorlands College lecturers Sharon Prior and Colin Bennett.

Course content

Spread over five Saturday mornings, Ministering to Children is open to anyone currently working in, or intending to become involved with, children’s ministry—in either a paid or voluntary capacity. The course spans five topics:

Saturday 15 October 2016
Characteristics of children and learning styles.

Saturday 12 November
Culture and influences on children.

Saturday 14 January 2017
Spiritual formation and teaching.

4 Saturday 25 February
Planning sessions, accommodating special needs and telling stories.

5 Saturday 25 March
Vision and strategy.

NCFE accreditation
For those wishing to gain formal recognition, each morning session will be followed by an additional hour of training between 2–3pm.*

This Customised Unit is part of the Moorlands College Engaging With Applied Theology Award, and has been accredited by NCFE. The learning outcomes are benchmarked at Level 3, to help you get the most from the course.

10am–1pm (plus 2–3pm for optional NCFE accreditation*)

£200 for the accredited course / £100 for all five morning sessions / £25 per individual session
