Service of Celebration

Saturday October 18, Winchester Cathedral

A date for your diary!

On Saturday Oct 18 at 12 noon there will be a Diocesan service to celebrate twenty years of shared priestly ministry in the Church of England,  remembering  that we have  been ordaining women to the priesthood since 1994, following the historic vote of  1992.

The service, on the feast of St Luke, will celebrate the sharing of ministry in the  diocese and will look forward to the exciting  hopes and possibilities for mission and ministry which inspire and challenge us.

This is an occasion for shared celebration, women and men,lay and ordained, experienced and youthful. It is not intended to be either a service for women or a reunion, we hope to celebrate and pray for the Spirit to send us forward with fresh hope, joy and courage. The Revd Su Wallace, Precentor at Winchester Cathedral, will preside and the Revd Julia Mourant, Vocations Adviser and Diocesan Director of Ordinands, will preach.

Please email julia.mourant@winchester.anglican.org if you would like a lunch ticket. Space for lunch is limited, so please let Lesley know as soon as you can if you’d like a ticket.

Please come and bring lots of people. We hope the service itself will generate new vocations!

Hampshire Harvest Weekend Scarecrow Competition

4/5 October 2014, Winchester Cathedral

This will be a wonderful event with fun for all the family. Perhaps your church could enter the Scarecrow Competition! To celebrate the environment and caring for God’s Creation the scarecrow must be made from re-cycled and re-used materials – nothing new.

For full details on how to enter please visit:

There will be loads to do and see. Please also take the opportunity to pop along and visit the Diocesan Environmental Team and check out how efficient you are at Caring for God’s Creation with a game of ‘Tin Can Alley’!

Note: The Hog Roast scheduled for 6.30pm on Saturday 4 October as part of this event has unfortunately been cancelled.
